As the name Scandinave Spa implies, the traditional nordic spa experience now comes with a modern French twist. After all, Scandinave is the direct french translation for ‘Scandinavian’.
Thanks to a forward-thinking group of Quebec-based private investors, wellness enthusiasts in British Columbia and Ontario — in addition to those in La Belle Province — can enjoy hot, cold, and thermal bathing at its contemporary finest.
Each spa combines age-old thermal tradition with cutting edge facilities, contemporary design and natural integrations, providing guests with a simultaneously relaxing and invigorating experience. Scandinave Spas can currently be found at Mont-Tremblant QC, Blue Mountain ON, Whistler BC, and in Old Montreal, QC.
Wallop started supporting Scandinave Spa in October 2018, working with each property to define, manage, and report on a personalized digital marketing strategy.
While the spas share a strong brand, each location had its unique challenges. In some locations, for example, regional competition was extremely high. For these locales our goal was to promote the Spa Scandinave brand and differentiate the experience through the use of highly visual and strategically targeted awareness campaigns.
Still others needed help reaching new audiences. These locations saw good organic performance due to a strong position in the local market. In these cases our goal was to ensure their paid advertising campaigns were not cannibalizing organic traffic, and instead reaching new, less brand-aware guests.
The remaining locations faced challenges around seasonality, with strong performance through the winter and a softening during the summer months. Here our aim was to promote the properties as four season destinations, driving spa visits through a funnel consisting of awareness and remarketing campaigns.
Finally, each spa faced unique challenges when it came to tracking and understanding the performance of their website and digital advertising activities. In order to rectify this, we applied a best practice tracking setup that would allow for the comparison of performance across properties. Working proactively with each spa’s marketing staff, we collectively drove more revenue with the launch of a gift card sales platform, measured through the implementation of eCommerce tracking.

In taking a strategic and comprehensive approach to each location’s online presence, we’ve been able to generate increases in performance across both organic and paid channels. Not only has there been an increase in traffic, but there’s also been continuous growth in massage and gift card purchases.
We were also able to assist in a number of other key areas. For instance, we provided new designs for key pages on the website using heat mapping and user data. These designs present important information better while reducing call volume associated with frequently asked questions. At the same time, this content helped improve organic rankings for key terms.
