This year, we are glad to be working with Ocean Wise, Sustainable Travel International, Adventure Travel Conservation Fund and Surfrider to foster awareness of ocean pollution, wildlife poaching and sustainable tourism. As travellers, we want to give back to the places that fuel our explorations.
1% for the Planet’s goal is to “help fund these diverse environmental organizations so that collectively they can be a more powerful source in solving the world’s problems.” They are a recognized brand for many important global movements. Their idea was simple and straightforward: companies profit from the resources they take from the earth, they should protect those resources and realize their responsibility.
Currently, they are connecting over 3,000 members and brands to come together and protect the future of our planet.
Ocean Wise’s vision is a world in which oceans are healthy and flourishing and they want to inspire the global community to become Ocean Wise through increasing its understanding, wonder and appreciation for our oceans.
Part of the organization’s work includes Ocean Wise Seafood, which is a well-recognized conservation program that makes it easy for consumers to choose sustainable seafood for the long term health of our oceans.
Sustainable Travel International believes that travel and tourism can protect the world’s natural and cultural riches and create economic opportunity. Their mission is to protect and conserve our planet’s most vulnerable destinations by transforming tourism’s impact on nature and people. They work to empower local communities, engage travelers and tourism businesses in responsible practices, and strengthen the management of destinations around the globe.
Adventure Travel Conversion Fund’s mission is clear: to directly fund local projects engaged in the conservation of unique natural and cultural resources of adventure travel destinations. They provide funding, connections and support projects that protect the cultural and natural resources that underpin the adventure tourism industry.
Their latest project aims to curb the increase in illegal wildlife poaching that has resulted from the economic impact of COVID-19 on on-the-ground rangers and conservation organizations
The Surfrider Foundation is devoted to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves and beaches, for all people, through a powerful activist network. They are actively fighting for issues such as plastic pollution, ocean protection, coastal preservation and clean water resources
The Surfrider Foundation also supports a series of programs like “Beach Cleanups”, “Blue Water Task Force”, “Ocean Friendly Gardens”, “Ocean Friendly Restaurants” and “Rise Above Plastics”.
